Our Impact

Creating a more inclusive hair industry takes more than describing a space as welcoming. It means listening to people’s experiences, questioning established systems and making practical changes.

One of Barber Below’s proudest achievements began with the booking process. We worked with Timely to introduce pronouns into its booking system, helping clients communicate how they would like to be addressed before arriving for their appointment.

The change was introduced across a platform used in more than 70 countries. What began with a conversation in a queer-owned Manchester barbershop became a practical improvement for trans and gender-diverse clients around the world.

Including pronouns may appear to be a small change, but it can reduce assumptions and misgendering while helping teams welcome clients respectfully. It tells people that their identity has been considered before they even enter the space.

That campaign reflects what Barber Below stands for: using our voice, turning inclusive values into meaningful action and encouraging the wider hair industry to do better.

We’re proud of the impact we’ve made, but inclusion is ongoing. We’ll continue listening, learning and improving the experience we provide for every person who sits in our chair.
